Your files stay yours
The Maker Toolkit was built so your designs, photos and customer work never have to leave your computer. This page says exactly what does travel, where, and why, in plain words. Updated October 19, 2026.
The short version
- Your files are never uploaded. SVGs, photos, cut files and print art are opened and processed in your own browser.
- No ad trackers. No Google Analytics, no Facebook pixel, no cookies for tracking. Usage is counted first-party, without cookies.
- You choose anything we keep. Feedback, an email signup, a shop backup or a shared setting only happen when you press the button, and only what you typed is sent.
- We never sell your data. Not to anyone, not ever.
The AI download in Cutout Studio
Cutout Studio removes photo backgrounds with an AI model that runs on your own computer. The first time you use it, your browser downloads the model (about 44 MB), and then keeps a copy so it only happens once.
- What it is: ORMBG, an open-source background-removal model (Apache-2.0 license). A model is a file of numbers that describes how to separate a subject from its background. It is not a program: it cannot install anything, read your files or reach your other tabs.
- What runs it: transformers.js, an open-source library, loaded at a fixed version from jsDelivr, the public code CDN thousands of sites use. It runs inside your browser's own sandbox, the same protection every web page runs under.
- Where it comes from: Hugging Face, the main public home for open-source AI models. Those two downloads are the only extra requests Cutout Studio makes, and they carry no part of your photo.
- What it sends back: nothing. Your photo is processed on your machine and the results stay there until you download them.
- Prefer no download at all? Pick "Plain backdrop" in Cutout Studio. It removes a paper or white-wall background instantly, with no AI and nothing fetched.
Many free background removers upload your photo to their own servers to process it. We did it this way because a customer's pet, child or late relative is not ours to upload.
Customer names in the Batch Maker
The Batch Maker turns your order list into finished files. The names, order numbers and buyer details you paste or upload are read on your computer and held only while the page is open: nothing is saved in your browser and nothing is sent to us or anyone else. The files you download are the only copies.
To draw the lettering it downloads the font you pick, an open-licensed font file, and the open-sourceopentype.js library, both from jsDelivr at fixed versions. Those requests carry no names. A font you upload yourself stays on your computer.
What the site measures
We count how the site and tools are used so we know what to improve: page views, which tools get opened and run, and when a file is downloaded (its type, like "svg", never its name). This uses Vercel Web Analytics and Speed Insights, served from our own domain, with no cookies and no cross-site identity. Nothing in it can identify you.
What we keep, and only when you ask
- Feedback
- What you type, the tool you were in, and short context (file format, machine, app version). It is posted to a private channel our team reads. Leave an email and tick "send me updates" and we add it to our list, only after you confirm it from your inbox.
- "Tell me when my machine is supported"
- Your email and the machine name, added to our list after you confirm. You can unsubscribe from any email in one click.
- Shop backup
- Your shop profile and logged settings (machines, materials, rates). Never a design. Stored under a long random code for about 400 days so you can restore it on another computer. Add an email and we mail you the link, after you confirm.
- Shared settings
- One laser setting you choose to share with other makers (wattage, material, speed, power, passes, an optional note). No file, no email, no IP address. A person reviews every shared setting before it reaches the reference table.
- SEO Page Audit
- The web page you ask us to check is fetched by our server. We log the site name and keyword with a scrambled form of your connection address, to keep the free tool from being abused.
- Production Planner
- Builds the schedule on our server from product names, sizes, quantities and your rates. Never a file, and nothing is kept afterward.
- Hub member sign-in
- Signing in with Discord sets one cookie that says you are a member, holding only your Discord user ID. It lasts a week. We check your Hub role with Discord; we do not see your password or your messages.
What stays in your browser
Your shop profile, product list, logged settings and tool preferences are saved in your browser's own storage, on your computer, so the tools remember them. We cannot see them. Clearing your browser's site data removes them; a shop backup is the way to keep a copy.
Abuse protection
Forms that reach our team or our email list are rate-limited and checked for bots. To do that we use a scrambled (one-way hashed) form of your connection address that cannot be turned back into it, and we never store the address itself.
Questions
Ask anything through the Feedback button in the Maker Toolkit, or in the Hub. If something on this page ever stops being true, we would rather hear it from you than find it later.
