Free maker tool
Etsy changed what a good title looks like in 2026. Most listings were written for the old rules.
Nothing is uploaded. It runs in your browser, so your files never leave your machine — and it stays free.
Part of the Maker Toolkit: twenty-three tools that share one shop profile and one product list, so what you set up here is already known everywhere else.
Maker Toolkit v1.0 · August 2026
How it works
It reads your title, tags and description against Etsy’s own limits and its 2026 title guidance: 140 characters, under 15 words, 13 tags of 20 characters, no repeated words, no sale or shipping talk in the title. It also checks the description for what buyers ask about: size, materials, personalization and turnaround. Every finding says whether it is an Etsy rule or our advice, and gives you a one-line fix.
Why it is built this way
Questions
Etsy allows 140 characters, but its April 2026 guidance suggests under 15 words: say what the item is, then its color, material and size. Search engines show only the first 50 to 60 characters, so those words have to say what it is on their own. Leave out price, shipping, sale wording and words like “perfect”.
Thirteen tags per listing, each up to 20 characters, using letters, numbers and spaces, plus an apostrophe or hyphen inside a word. Etsy says to use all 13 and to make them multi-word phrases: “custom bracelet” beats “custom” and “bracelet” as two tags, and frees a slot.
No. Etsy matches searches on root words, so a plural pair finds the same buyers and spends two of your 13 slots on one search. The checker catches plural pairs, the same tag in different capitals, and the same words in a different order, and tells you which one to keep.
Exactly what you are selling. Etsy’s own help says a person should read the first sentence and know what the item is, so “Welcome to my shop!” spends your best line on hello. Put the size, materials and how to order near the top, then break the rest into short lines.
Next in the workflow
These are not a list of everything. They are the tools this one hands off to, and they already know what you did here.
Free, and staying free
Eighteen of the twenty-three tools are free for good. If you want the generators that design the product, and the planner that tells you whether the batch fits your week, that is what the Hub is for.
