Markup is a percentage of your cost. Margin is a percentage of your price. Multiplying cost by 1.6 and calling it a "60% margin" gives you a 37.5% margin, because $10 becomes $16 and $6 of $16 is 37.5%. The gap widens as the percentage rises, and it is the most common reason a shop that looks profitable is not.
Once, spread across the batch you realistically expect to sell, rather than on every unit. Charging every unit for two hours of design prices you out of the market on unit ten and overcharges the customer who bought unit fifty.
Total your real monthly costs including machine, space, consumables, insurance and the time you spend not cutting, then divide by the hours you can honestly bill. Most makers discover the number is higher than what they have been charging, which is the useful part.
It does if you have logged your own feeds and speeds in Machine Settings. Cut time comes from your measured numbers for that material and wattage, not from a generic table.
