How it works

Your Product Catalogue, step by step

It holds one record per thing you sell — the cut file, its real measured size and cut length, the material you proved it on, what it costs you to make and what you charge. The Planner pulls its machine hours from it, Pricing pulls its costs, the Nester pulls the file. Nothing gets typed in twice.

Why it is built this way

Your Product Catalogue — common questions

What does a product record actually hold?

The cut file itself, its real finished size, the material it is cut from, measured cut length, your labour time and the price you sell it at. The measurements are taken from the geometry, not typed in, so they are right.

Why not just re-upload the file to each tool?

You can, and for a one-off that is faster. It stops working the moment you sell the same thing twice. Re-measuring by hand is where the drift comes from: the nester thinks a part is 6 in, the pricing thinks 6.25, and the quote is wrong in a way nothing flags.

Does updating a product update everything that uses it?

Yes. Change the material or the price and every tool reading that record sees the change. That is the point of it being one record rather than five copies.
